Thomas Dart
In the early stages of his career, Tom practiced as a criminal lawyer, a civil litigation lawyer and a family law lawyer. He now practices only family law and alternative dispute resolution.
As an experienced mediator and arbitrator, Tom has assisted clients in resolving their disputes - settling custody and access issues as well as financial issues such as property division and support. Tom is highly skilled and has completed over 200 family mediations since 1995 achieving a high level of client success. His calm demeanour does not let high conflict cases get out of control. His communication, relationship, interviewing and assessment skills combined with demonstrated problem-solving skills allow clients to move through resolution.
Called to the bar in 1976, Tom has been an advisor, instructor and reviewer and has dozens of professional accreditations and designations including Founding President Simcoe County Family Law Lawyer's Association, Past Chair of the Family Law Section, Ontario Bar Association and is the current President - Ontario Association Family Mediation.
Tom has been a volunteer in Barrie for many years. His volunteer commitments include acting as Chair of the Catholic Family Life Centre, Captain for the March of Dimes, Past President of the Barrie Minor Hockey Association and Past President of the Barrie AAA Icemen Minor Hockey Association.
